Does brain training work?

Partly, and it pays to be honest about which part. Practise any of these games and you will get measurably better at that game — a real effect psychologists call near transfer. What the evidence does not support is far transfer: the leap from a trained task to broad, everyday gains in memory or reasoning is weak and inconsistent across studies.

So we make no claim that these games raise your IQ. Treat them as a fun, low-stakes way to benchmark different abilities and warm up your focus — and if you want a fuller measure of reasoning, the free IQ test is the place to go.
